TAC Community Day: Clothing Swap & Style + Mini RESALE
Join the Textile Arts Center of Madison for a free community celebration of sustainability, creativity, and personal style on Sunday, September 20, from 11am–2pm.
Refresh your wardrobe without buying new! Throughout the event, textile artists and volunteers will lead hands-on modification stations where you can learn visible mending, embroidery, simple alterations, fabric stamping, patch-making, and other creative techniques to personalize your clothing. Whether you're covering a stain, repairing a favorite pair of jeans, or adding a one-of-a-kind design, you'll leave with new skills—and clothing that's uniquely yours.
No experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome. Come swap, stitch, create, and celebrate the possibilities of creative reuse with your community.
Modification Stations:
Clothing Swap with UW’s Re-Wear It
Bring clean, gently used clothing to swap, or give new life to pieces you already own.
Visible Embroidery Mending and Customizations with Dean Amethyst Dvorak
Add a little flair with thread! Dean will guide you through embroidery techniques to visibly mend your clothes.
Chain Embroidery "Tattoo" Station with Tina Meister
Pick a design from Tina's flashsheet and Tina will give your clothes a chain stitched "tattoo" using their embroidery machine.
Mending Lab with Fibershed Heartland
Experienced volunteers from Fibershed Heartland can help you mend or alter any clothing needs you might have!
Stamp Patching with TAC Volunteers
