Home Grown brings together contemporary fiber and textile works rooted in the materials and landscapes of the Midwest. Featuring artists who incorporate locally grown, raised, or foraged fibers and dyes into their practices, the exhibition highlights the rich connections between making, place, and material. Viewers can expect to encounter works created with wool, flax, natural dyes, plant fibers, and other regionally sourced elements that carry the textures, histories, and rhythms of Midwestern environments.

The exhibition explores the many ways artists engage with local materials—through traditions of handwork, sustainable practices, experimentation, and personal relationships to land and labor. Some works foreground the origins of their materials and the processes behind them, while others allow these connections to remain subtle, embedded quietly within the structure of the piece. Together, the artworks reveal how regional materials can shape both the physical qualities of textile art and the stories it tells.

Spanning a range of techniques, forms, and perspectives, Home Grown invites viewers to consider the value of materials that are cultivated close to home and the knowledge systems tied to them. The exhibition offers an opportunity to reflect on how fiber art can foster deeper awareness of ecology, agriculture, and community while celebrating the creativity and resourcefulness of artists working within and alongside the Midwest landscape.
