Artist Opportunities

TAC engages fiber artists working in a wide variety of mediums and techniques for teaching, exhibition, and community outreach opportunities. Current opportunities are listed below.

  • TEACH AT TAC: TAC Madison invites teaching artists who practice textile and fibers arts to submit proposals for in-person classes and workshops. Additional details and a link to our workshop proposal form are online here.

    • TAC is seeking teaching artists for a number of specific, requested subjects. Please contact us if you have any of these skills to share with the community.

      • Basket making

      • Cross Stitch

      • Rug making

      • Tufting and/or punch needle

      • Upholstery

  • CALL FOR ARTWORKS FOR 2026 EXHIBITIONS:

    • Nothing New:Nothing New is an exhibition of contemporary fiber and textile works made from up-cycled, recycled, or repurposed materials. Curated by the Textile Arts Center of Madison and presented at Overture Center for the Arts, the exhibition invites artists to transform discarded textiles and fibers into compelling, fiber-based works of art. Application Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 5pm. Complete details are online here.

    • Home Grown: The Textile Arts Center of Madison invites artists to apply for Home Grown, an upcoming exhibition featuring fiber and textile works that incorporate materials grown, raised, or foraged in the Midwest. The exhibition highlights regional fibers and dyes and welcomes work that engages with these materials in any way, whether conceptually central or simply part of the making process. Note: Locally sourced materials need only be a part of the work; other materials are welcome too. Application Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 5pm. Complete details are online here.

  • CALL FOR EXHIBITION PROPOSALS:

    • TAC accepts exhibition proposals from individual artists, groups, and curators. Complete details are online here.

  • ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM:

    • TAC’s Artist-in-Residence Program: TAC’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence program will begin in January 2026. An open call for applications for the 2027 residency periods will open in mid-2026. Stay tuned!
